Oyster Flame celebrates it’s 10th Birthday

The second instalment of our story

Once Oyster Flame was registered, I needed some work. What was I going to do.

LinkedIn was my greatest asset. It enabled me to get in contact with a network of people who could help me, and they did. A previous director of my department, who had left a few months or so earlier was one person I connected with, and when I told him my situation, he put me in touch with Nick, the consultant I mentioned in my previous instalment.

As luck would have it, just as he was looking for someone, and can you believe it, I fitted the bill. He wanted someone to work as a consultant, and so my business was born. This one client took 100% of my time.

All my eggs in one basket …. someone once said …. another great contact, Di, who is another lovely person who has helped me develop my business. But that’s another (instalment to this) story.

Talking of eggs, Plan A was now taking shape. Whilst I was working as a P2P consultant through my own company, our fertility treatment eventually gave us some good news, and we had a positive pregnancy test. The end of the contract coincided nicely with my maternity leave. So in March 2013 I took a little break.

To be continued.
