Behind the scenes here at Oyster Flame in this new ‘normal’

I think I used to be quite good at juggling home life, a 6 year old, volunteering and work and still got a fair work : life balance. But now I don’t even know what day it is.

I used to organise my week around my daughters social life, swimming, gymnastics, dancing, piano lessons, rainbows. And I knew exactly where I was. Now, with all that gone and the responsibility of home-schooling during the daytime landing in my lap, it’s a different life altogether.

Once we’ve both jumped around to Joe Wicks first thing, we are then starting work and I am splitting my working day into 2 chunks; one in the morning, the other in the afternoon or evening. Even then accepting interruptions to help with maths or spelling or opening the tuck shop for snacks.

I think we will both learn how our new routines will work together, Chloe will learn to work more independently and I will learn to say ‘No’ or provide better instruction before she starts, but it is only Day 3 of this new ‘normal’ so I’m not beating myself up just yet.

Preparation for the day ahead takes place the evening before. Attempting to keep to the new routine going.

I am fully aware I am not the only one in this situation by a long shot. And know that in these strange circumstances I’m very lucky that I’m set-up to work virtually from my own home.
